Sandra provides direct senior level administrative and organizational support to Donald H. Levy, the Vice President for Research and for National Laboratories. Sandra serves as a first line resource to senior administrators, trustees, board members, faculty, staff, laboratory management, DOE personnel and other constituents.
Sandra has been responsible for carrying out university executive searches, official minute secretary and coordinator to various faculty advisory committees and ad hoc committees. She is responsible for managing complex travel and logistics. Serves as the department’s GEMS representative. Supports the distribution of executive and university wide communications. Sandra has assisted with training new staff and has provided interim support to the Priztker Director for Molecular Engineering.
In addition to supporting the vice president, she acts as a Project Manager. Assisting in the planning of research program initiatives that are operational and developmental to the office. Organizes the production of key special events, conference planning, delegation visits and various team-building activities. She has conducted national laboratory, campus tours and manages special projects as assigned.
Sandra has over 15 years of administrative and managerial experience and has spent several years in the healthcare industry. She joined the University in 2003. Prior to joining the VPRNL office, she worked in the Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the medical center as a Project Assistant. In this role, she sustained a wide range of responsibility in managing all clinical and academic practices for a principal investigator, professor and director of the Chicago Electrical Trauma Program.
Sandra possesses an Event Planner certification, in addition to, two professional certificates from Queens College. She is currently pursuing her CSEP certification. She is a co-inventor of a patent and a native New Yorker, now residing in Chicago with her husband and two children.
